Mission

The mission of Producer Hub is to provide an online resource that showcases and supports the wide variety of producing models that exist in the world of live performance through shared business and educational resources and networking. While centered on the professional development of the producer, Producer Hub seeks to be a connective space for any stakeholder in the making of live performance. Producer Hub prioritizes exchange as a means of learning, and values and facilitates relationship building at all levels.   

Vision

The creation of live performance sits at the intersection of many entities (artists, presenters, culture workers, and more), all of whom have different strengths and viewpoints. Independent producers have been stepping in for decades to address the gaps and challenges presented by this intersection.

This approach, which has grown organically and responsively across the industry, has cultivated a sense of isolation among independent producers, and we are not using our collective resources to the best of our abilities.

In particular, despite the best efforts of producers, the creation and touring of contemporary performance in this country is unsustainable under current industry practices. Producing requires flexibility and adaptability.

Many producing models, whether non-profit or commercial, are directly reflective of the strengths, experiences, and values of the producer heading up the project or organization. Among independent producers, producing models are almost always bespoke, created to fit the specific needs of each project. The work of the producer at every level often happens in isolation and results in people across the country reinventing the proverbial wheel over and over again.

Producer Hub is our solution to this unsustainable practice.

We believe that the way to move the industry forward is through collaboration in order to create a more sustainable and equitable field for every member of the live performance community.

Built on principles of peer-to-peer learning and transparency of practice, Producer Hub is an organization that aims to be responsive to its community of creative and independent producers, culture workers, artists, and presenters.

Through frequent communication, research, and surveys, our programming is designed to serve the community at every individual’s stage of development.
